History of Ceremony

1996: In October, Club Laga opened on the fourth floor of The Strand Building in Oakland. It featured Ceremony, an all ages goth/industrial dance night on Wednesdays with a DJ named Steve.

1997: On Jan. 29, The Night Shift became the DJs for Ceremony. Founding members were college radio DJs KellyA, KellyD, Badtz, and Salo, as well as their friend DJ Circuitry.

1998: In September, Ceremony moved to Fridays.

2000: In May, Ceremony moved to Saturdays.

2001: In October, Ceremony moved to The Upstage, on the second floor of the same building.

2007: In January, after The Upstage closed, Ceremony moved downtown to Pegasus and switched nights to Wednesdays. In April, Ceremony moved to Saturdays.

2008: On Nov. 29, the last Ceremony was held.

2014: On Nov. 8, a Ceremony Reunion was held at Cattivo.

2018: On May 26, a Ceremony Reunion was held at Spirit.
